Choosing Your Supplier

Choosing Your Supplier

We were recently asked by a prospective new client, refreshing questions as part of their supplier selection process.

Initially, the normal questions on standards of workmanship, company history of trading for over 21 years, equipment warranties of up to 10 years and manufacturer certifications/maintenance were discussed. However, the client’s overriding interest was in how we look to reduce our impact on the environment.

We were confident in being able to answer this question as we at Kinlochs and Son Ltd have a continuing commitment to reduce our environmental impact. This is the case for all of our employees, whether it’s our engineers fitting air conditioning units/refrigerators, or our staff in the office. Please find below some examples of how we implement our environmental policies into our day-to-day practices:

  • When our engineers are installing products for our clients, they always ensure that the equipment they use is energy efficient.
  • When it comes to our office, one such way that we reduce our environmental impact is by using separate waste recycling bins. These are then frequently collected by a local company.
  • Redundant air conditioning and refrigeration equipment are correctly decommissioned by our qualified engineers with the refrigerant gases being returned to wholesalers for safe disposal.
  • All old plastic casings are recycled together with the metal and copper again being recycled by a licensed waste company.
  • Our warehouse also has separate recycling bins and general waste, which again are regularly collected by a local licensed waste carrier.
  • When we receive a new equipment delivery, the protective packaging is either disposed of onsite if the facilities allow, or alternatively it is returned by our engineers to the head office’s recycling bins.
